Philippine National Police chief, Police General Nicolas Torre III visited several schools in Quezon City on Monday to ensure security as the School Year 2025–2026 officially began across the country.
According to a report by Mark Makalalad of Super Radyo dzBB on Unang Balita, Torre inspected Batasan Hills National High School and President Corazon Aquino Elementary School to assess police visibility and safety measures in the area.
Torre affirmed that the entire police force is fully prepared for the nationwide opening of School Year 2025–2026, emphasizing that comprehensive security measures have been implemented to safeguard students, teachers, and school personnel.
During his visit to schools in Quezon City, Torre assured the public that the Philippine National Police has laid out extensive security plans to maintain peace and order throughout the school year. He personally engaged with school principals, administrators, and students to hear their concerns and ensure that their safety needs are being met.
To bolster security, the PNP has intensified police visibility in critical areas around schools, including major entry and exit points, transport terminals, and public areas where students commonly gather. Torre instructed all unit commanders to crack down on street crimes such as theft, illegal drug activity, and harassment, and to ensure that learners are protected from any form of threat or disruption.
The PNP chief also encouraged the public to promptly report any suspicious activities or emergencies through the national emergency hotline 911, assuring them that police responders will arrive within five minutes under the agency’s 5-Minute Response Time Strategy.
In total, the PNP deployed 37,740 police personnel nationwide to secure the first day of classes. Police Assistance Desks were also set up near schools to provide immediate support, respond to inquiries, and help maintain order as students returned to their classrooms.
