
Philippine Tennis Academy player Stefi Marithe Aludo is expected to display her top form again in the President’s Cup Masters, which is scheduled for Jan. 6-12 at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in Malate, Manila.
The tournament will honor the Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) president, Mayor Eric Olivarez, and will kick off the 2025 season of the Palawan Pawnshop National Tennis Championships.
Aludo, who won the doubles title with Tennielle Madis at the Cola-Cola Philta International Juniors 2 on Dec. 8, is in Group B of the girls’ U18 category along with Sandra Bautista, Daveaine Therese Gauran, and Ma. Sophia Justine Moreno.
In Group A are Dhea Angelica Cua, Avegail Joy Ansay, Sanschena Francisco and Shiloh Louisa Cruz.
Other categories are girls U16, U14 and U12; boys U18, U16, U14 and U12; and unisex U10.
Eight players will be divided into two groups based on seedings.
The elimination round is a single round-robin, with the top two in each group advancing to the crossover semifinal. The winners will clash for the title. All matches will be played best-of-three tiebreak sets.
Frank Nhiele Dilao, Kian John Sanchez, Antonio Ng Jr., and Sean Andrei Esick are seeing action in the boys’ U18 in Group A, and Bench Neri, France Vhiele Dilao, Stephen Fuertes, and Al John Rombawa are in Group B.
Competing in the boys U16 are Lexious Gabriel Cruz, Shaun Apoll Globasa, Peter Rafael Bandala, and Julio Inigo Naredo in Group A, while Al Tristan Licayan, Gavin Kraut, Rain Ninal, and Troan John David Vytiaco are in Group B.
The champions will receive 120 Philta points each and a trophy. (PNA)
