President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has opened new Transparency Portals for key government agencies, according to DICT Secretary Henry Aguda. These include portals for the DPWH, SSS, and PhilHealth.
Aguda said the goal is simple: use tech to fight corruption, make services smoother, and help people trust the government again. He explained that this move is part of a broader push for digital governance.
The DPWH portal went live on Nov. 24. PhilHealth’s portal followed this week. SSS also launched its own version. More agencies will release their portals in the next few weeks until it becomes the standard for all.
Each portal shows how the agency uses public funds. The platform has two main tools. First is a visual dashboard with charts and graphs showing budget breakdowns. It works well on phones, so anyone can access it even with a basic device. Second is an AI chatbot that answers questions in English, Filipino, or Taglish. It can explain where money went or how certain programs were funded.
Aguda said these tools make government spending clearer and easier to understand. With more eyes on the data, he believes it will be harder for irregularities to happen.
People can access the portals through the websites of DPWH, SSS, PhilHealth, and also through open.gov.ph.
He also shared that DICT has started livestreaming its bidding processes. These streams first appeared on Facebook and are now on YouTube for better access and storage. Some LGUs have begun doing the same to improve transparency in their own procurement.
Aguda said the aim is to let every Filipino monitor how the government uses public money and be part of keeping the system honest.
