Typhoon Typhoon Tino (international name Kalmaegi) has impacted more than 42,555 families, or approximately 133,554 individuals, across 789 barangays in 56 local government units in the Western Visayas region, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Of these, around 30,120 families (94,324 people) are currently taking shelter in 1,304 evacuation centres, while an additional 11,880 families (37,238 people) have opted to stay with relatives or friends.
To date, relief assistance exceeding ₱1.1 million has been released — including ₱535,213 from the DSWD and the remainder from local government units and non-government organisations.
The DSWD has put its Emergency Operations Centre on red alert and deployed its quick-response teams, which are providing technical and manpower support to local governments.
Available relief resources stand at about ₱93.31 million, made up of ₱2.79 million in standby funds and over ₱90.52 million worth of food and non-food items.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has hoisted Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 over Guimaras and the central- and southern-portions of Iloilo, including Iloilo City.
Other areas:
• Signal No. 3 covers the remaining parts of Iloilo, the southern portion of Capiz, and central Antique.
• Signal No. 2 was placed over Aklan, the rest of Capiz, Antique (including Caluya Islands).
Due to the typhoon, 25 shipping trips were cancelled, resulting in 413 stranded passengers.
