‘Three sides to every story’: Maine Mendoza blasts allegations as Arjo Atayde faces firestorm

In a stunning turn worthy of a primetime teleserye, Maine Mendoza has gone full-throttle in defending her embattled husband, actor-politician Arjo Atayde, after whispers of shady dealings with controversial contractors Sarah and Curlee Discaya exploded into a full-blown national scandal.

After initially posting a short and seemingly casual tweet, the usually private starlet shocked fans and critics alike with a fiery, tell-all Facebook post on Wednesday—laying bare her fury over what she called “vile remarks” and “twisted narratives” being hurled at their family.

“I realized my initial reaction when the issue first broke came across as informal and casual,” Maine confessed. “Felt the need to speak out immediately after hearing the news and listening to Arjo’s side regarding the alleged ‘involvement’… Forgive me for speaking up again this time. I know it may be wiser to stay silent while the investigation is ongoing, but I cannot let my last tweet be my only statement.”

And just like that, the gloves were off.

Maine ripped into the rumors suggesting their glamorous life was bankrolled by stolen public funds. “Not a single part of our life has been built on taxpayers’ money. Everything we have comes from years of work and savings. We pay our taxes, and we pay them truthfully, because we respect the same system we are accused of betraying,” she declared.

She was quick to slam what she called the “lazy narrative” that painted them as overnight millionaires riding on public money. “It’s personally offensive to be accused of spending money that we have rightfully earned outside politics. It’s unfair to reduce everything that we are and everything that we have worked for to that single narrative.”

Then came her most explosive line:
“I will never accept the narrative that accuses us of stealing and living off taxpayers’ money. That is not who Arjo is, that is not who I am, and that is not who we are—no amount of noise and accusations will ever make it true… Accuse him of other things if you wish, but not of stealing from people—that is one line he has never crossed, and never will.”

As photos of Atayde with the Discayas continue to swirl across social media like gasoline on fire, Maine hit back at what she called “stories taken out of context,” warning: “Perception is not always reality. Narratives can be twisted so easily, and many are quick to believe what fits their perspective. But the truth always finds its way to light.”

And she didn’t stop there. Like a thunderclap, she issued a veiled warning to the powerbrokers allegedly pulling the strings behind the scenes: “It is truly distressing to see people suffer in times of crisis because of corrupt politicians who put self-interest above all else, alongside their accomplices. Nakakagalit talaga… But you are condemning the wrong people.”

Finally, Maine dropped the bombshell that sent gossip sites into overdrive:
“Remember the three sides to every story: their version, our version, and the truth. And we are confident that we stand on the side of truth… Not all politicians are corrupt—some are just convenient targets. The real villains are celebrating quietly in the shadows.”

Legal fireworks are on the horizon as Arjo reportedly prepares to take his accusers to court—while Maine, now unexpectedly cast as his fiercest defender, has turned what began as a scandal into a tabloid war of perception.

And in this unfolding drama of power, love, and alleged corruption, one thing’s for sure: the third side of the story has only just begun to roar.
