The Pokémon Company has announced the introduction of Mega Victreebel, a new Mega Evolution of the classic Flycatcher Pokémon, for its upcoming games “Pokémon Legends: Z-A” on Nintendo Switch and “Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.”
The reveal was made in a trailer titled “Mega Victreebel Raises a Stink! | Pokémon Legends: Z-A,” which was released on the official Pokémon YouTube channel. In this new form, Mega Victreebel is depicted with a swollen body filled with acid, enlarged head leaves, and a more aggressive fighting style compared to its original form.
According to The Pokémon Company, Mega Victreebel is a Grass/Poison type that stands at 14 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 276.7 pounds. Its design highlights the dangerous effects of Mega Evolution, as it stores a significant amount of acid within its body, wrapping vines around its throat to prevent spillage. In battle, Mega Victreebel is described as highly aggressive, utilizing its bulk for powerful tackles and unleashing Sludge Bomb attacks. Its acid emits a sweet scent that can disorient opponents and is corrosive enough to melt concrete and steel.
The reveal was accompanied by another promotional video titled “The Case of the Sweet Scent Incident | Pokémon Legends: Z-A,” which is styled as found footage exploring a building affected by Mega Victreebel’s acidic abilities.
“Pokémon Legends: Z-A” is one of the most anticipated entries in the franchise, set to launch on both the Nintendo Switch and the next-generation Nintendo Switch 2.
