The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will implement temporary full road closures along the EDSA Kamuning southbound lane this week to facilitate the installation of steel components for a new pedestrian footbridge.
The closures are scheduled for Monday, January 12, and Thursday, January 15, from 1:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. During these windows, the Kamuning Southbound Busway Station will be completely inaccessible to both private vehicles and public transport.
While the EDSA Carousel buses will continue their 24/7 operations, they will skip the Kamuning station during the work hours.
Commuters are advised to use the nearest alternative stations at Quezon Avenue or Nepa Q-Mart in Cubao.
The new structure is being built to replace the controversial “Mt. Kamuning” overpass, which drew widespread public criticism for its steep, 9-meter height.
The replacement footbridge is designed to be more accessible, featuring a lower incline, elevators, and wheelchair lifts for persons with disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens.
Traffic Advisory and Alternate Routes
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) warned motorists to expect heavy traffic in the vicinity and recommended the following alternate routes for southbound travel:
• Turn right at Scout Borromeo Street.
• Exit through GMA Network Drive or Timog Avenue to return to EDSA.
The project, which was greenlit by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in 2025, is part of a broader effort to modernize EDSA Busway stations.
The DOTr expects the new footbridge to be fully operational within the first quarter of 2026.
