Filipino craftsmanship once again earned global recognition as Tanduay Reserve Rum 10 Years and Tanduay Double Rum clinched gold medals at the prestigious World Spirits Competition, reaffirming the country’s place among the world’s elite producers of fine spirits.
The international competition, hosted by Cigar & Spirits Magazine, brings together some of the most respected palates in the industry to evaluate a carefully curated selection of spirits from around the world. All entries are judged through a strict blind-tasting process, with labels and identifying details removed to ensure impartial assessment.
From this rigorous evaluation, only the most exceptional spirits are awarded double gold, gold, silver, or bronze distinctions.
“These honors reflect our commitment to producing world-class products that showcase Filipino excellence and innovation,” said Roy Kristoffer Sumang, Tanduay International Business Development Manager, underscoring the brand’s continued pursuit of quality and global relevance.

Among the awardees, Tanduay Reserve Rum 10 Years stood out as a refined expression of time-honored rum-making. Aged for a decade in ex-bourbon barrels, the medium-bodied rum delivers layered aromas of dried fruits, toasted oak, vanilla, and butterscotch.
Its dark amber hue hints at a palate rich with caramel, vanilla, and dried fruits, finishing with notes of wood, raisins, and dark chocolate, making it equally compelling whether sipped neat or mixed into cocktails.
Tanduay Double Rum, meanwhile, impressed judges with its complexity and depth. Crafted from a blend of rums aged 16 years and five years, then matured for an additional two years in ex-bourbon barrels, it offers a refined sipping experience. Its aromatic profile unfolds with sweet, fruity, and floral notes accented by citrus, vanilla, caramelized pineapple, toasted nuts, cherry, and tropical fruits.
Red in color, the rum presents a balanced sweetness on the palate with a medium, dry finish that lingers elegantly.
Beyond the medals, the recognition carries deeper meaning for the brand and the country it represents. “As we celebrate each achievement, we raise our glass to our country,” Sumang said.
“The quality sugarcane we use is sourced locally, and our aging, distillation, and packaging processes are all done here by hardworking Filipinos whose passion and dedication we recognize with our every win,” Sumang added.
With these latest gold medals, Tanduay not only strengthens its international reputation but also reinforces a powerful narrative: that Filipino-made spirits, shaped by local resources and craftsmanship, can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best in the world.
