The Taal Volcano in Batangas logged 49 volcanic earthquakes in the past 24 hours, but authorities say the alert level remains at Level 1.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the recorded seismic activity reflects “low-level unrest” and does not warrant raising the alert status. “We recorded 49 volcanic earthquakes in the past 24 hours,” the bulletin states.
PHIVOLCS reminded the public that despite the heightened quake count, there are no significant changes in other monitoring parameters, and “Alert Level 1 stays” for now.
The agency continues to advise the public, particularly residents around the volcano island, to avoid staying too long in the main crater area and to steer clear of restricted zones, as a precaution against sudden steam-explosion events.
Local government units are on standby and monitoring the situation closely, but no evacuations or heightened alerts have been ordered based on the current status.
