Three suspects in a cadaver case in General Santos City voluntarily surrendered to police on June 28 after authorities identified them in the investigation.

The Philippine National Police said the case began when the victim’s family reported him missing to the General Santos City Police Office on June 26.

A day later, police recovered the victim’s buried body in a barangay in General Santos City.

The discovery prompted investigators to intensify case buildup and track down those believed to be involved.

Police said the three suspects surrendered one after another after authorities publicly announced that they had already been identified and that operations were underway to locate them.

The suspects were assisted by their families and barangay officials when they turned themselves in at the police station.

They were placed under police custody, documented, informed of their constitutional rights, and subjected to custodial investigation.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Nartatez said the investigation would remain evidence-based and anchored on due process, as police worked to establish the motive, determine each suspect’s role, and prepare the appropriate criminal charges.
