A recent survey showed that 41% of Filipinos agree with impeaching Vice President Sara Duterte, while 61% support the House of Representatives’ Quad Committee hearings.
These statistics suggest that the legendary “Duterte myth” has been shattered. Filipinos have had enough of the father-daughter style of politics.
“Add to that, the consistent drop in VP Duterte’s trust ratings, and it’s obvious that the people are fed up,” said Tingog Party-list Representative Jude Acidre, referring to the recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey results.
“They’re tired of the same old Duterte-style politics—a culture of impunity, bullying tactics, and decisions that prioritize power over public service,” he continued.
“Either we stand by the wayside and allow this type of politics to continue, or we take a firm stand to hold the Dutertes accountable. The choice is ours—our silence enables impunity, but our courage can spark change,” Acidre added.
Acidre said the people have had enough of leaders who govern through fear and division. Filipinos seek accountability and truth. They desire leaders who will guide and serve them with integrity, compassion, and a vision for the future.
“The surveys prove it: Filipinos are ready for leaders who put the public’s welfare front and center. It’s time for leaders to listen to the people,” Acidre emphasized.
The surveys are clear: the era of impunity and political showmanship is coming to an end, he said. It’s time for leaders to address the people’s concerns and adopt a governance approach that prioritizes the public’s well-being, the lawmaker added.
“Let this be a reminder to all of us: our democracy is alive, and the Filipino people are ready to defend it,” Acidre reminded.
