The Department of Transportation (DOTr) launched a 50% fare discount for students commuting via LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 on June 20.

The fare cut aims to reduce daily transportation expenses as the new school year begins. The discount applies every day, including weekends and holidays, and covers both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

How to avail discount
To get the 50% fare discount, students must:

  • Present a valid student ID or official proof of enrollment
  • Buy a Single Journey Ticket at the station counter, as the discount does not apply to stored-value cards

Currently, Beep cards and stored-value tickets do not support the automatic application of the student discount.

Who is eligible

  • All students, including those enrolled in postgraduate programs, can avail of the discount
  • The fare cut applies to LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3
  • It remains valid every day, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays

Students are encouraged to plan ahead and bring valid school identification when commuting to ensure smooth access to the discount.
