The trough of Tropical Storm Surigae, which remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), will bring rains over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
As of 3 a.m., Surigae was located about 1,500 kilometers east of Northern Luzon. It will be given the local name Queenie once it enters PAR.
Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur will experience scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the storm’s trough.
PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rains in these areas may trigger flash floods or landslides.
The Bicol Region and the rest of Eastern Visayas may also experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to Surigae’s trough.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA cautioned that severe thunderstorms may also lead to flash floods or landslides.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are expected across the country.
