SSS launches e-Wheels project to bring services to 52 remote areas in Northern Luzon

The Social Security System (SSS) in Northern Luzon has rolled out its SSS e-Wheels project, targeting 52 remote sites this year to bring its services closer to members, pensioners, and beneficiaries in far-flung areas.

SSS Acting Vice President for Luzon North 1 Nancy Umoso said on Thursday that the initiative is part of President and CEO Robert Joseph Montes de Claro’s commitment to service excellence and digital transformation. The e-Wheels project officially began operations in the first week of April.

“This proactive and innovative approach is one of the key initiatives of our president and CEO. As we aim for service excellence, SSS is making its services accessible in remote communities so that our members, pensioners, and beneficiaries can transact with us with ease,” Umoso said.

The mobile service units are set to cover underserved towns and barangays across Ilocos Sur, La Union, Mountain Province, Abra, Ilocos Norte, Benguet, and Baguio City until the end of the year. Umoso noted that some larger barangays may require multiple visits to accommodate more clients.

The services provided by the SSS e-Wheels are the same as those offered at regular SSS branches. These include assistance in using digital platforms such as the SSS website (www.sss.gov.ph), the My.SSS Portal, and the SSS Mobile App. On-site support will also be available for online transactions such as Social Security Number generation for new members, My.SSS registration, disbursement account enrollment, submission of benefit and loan applications, updating of member and pensioner records, and Payment Reference Number generation for contributions and loans.

To complete transactions, clients are advised to bring a government-issued ID, an active email address, and a mobile number, especially for those applying for an SSS number.

As of December 2024, the SSS Luzon North 1 Division had 905,883 registered members. Through the e-Wheels program, the agency aims to reach even more individuals in rural and hard-to-reach communities, making social security services more inclusive and accessible to all.
