Filipino singer Sofronio Vasquez won this year’s “The Voice USA,” making history as the first Filipino and first Asian to take the top spot on the show.
NBC’s “The Voice” announced his victory on social media on Wednesday (Manila time).
In the finals, Vasquez delivered standout performances of Sia’s “Unstoppable” and “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman. His coach, Michael Bublé, joined him on stage after the win for a duet of “Who’s Lovin’ You.”
Vasquez’s win quickly became a trending topic on X, with 2,500 tweets, while “The Voice USA winner” was also among the top searches on Google Trends in the Philippines, with over 5,000 searches by Wednesday morning.
Vasquez reached the finale after his powerful rendition of Elvis Presley’s “I Can Dream.”
He previously competed in It’s Showtime’s “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” where he finished third.
