SM Investments Corp. (SMIC) is aggressively future-proofing its supply network by launching a free, self-paced e-learning bridge course on sustainability reporting for its vast network of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Developed in collaboration with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the initiative is a strategic move to ensure SM’s over 100,000 MSME partners—which represent the foundation of the Philippine economy—are prepared for the global shift toward sustainable business.
“It’s not just about producing reports,” asserted Timothy Daniels, SM Investments consultant and head of the investor relations and sustainability team.
“We are focused on empowering our MSME partners to create real business value by going deeper than the data.”
The course is designed to eliminate the cost barrier for small enterprises, providing foundational knowledge on key sustainability and climate-related concepts. By sponsoring the program, SMIC is making a critical investment in the capacity and resilience of its supply base.
SM views the success of these crucial smaller players as inseparable from its own long-term health.
The partnership is a forceful extension of SM’s corporate mandate, moving sustainability from an internal goal to a shared industry practice.
As Daniels concluded, “Through capability-building programs like this, we extend sustainability beyond our organization, helping ensure it becomes a shared practice across industries.”
