The situation at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) has become more controlled a few days after its emergency room exceeded capacity due to a surge in patients. PGH Director Dr. Gerardo Legaspi expressed his gratitude to the Department of Health (DOH) for their support.
According to Legaspi, the hospital’s occupancy rate is currently at 98.97%, with 199 patients in the emergency room as of Saturday morning. He also reported that since August 1, they have recorded 56 cases of leptospirosis.
Prior to this, the DOH announced that 20 hospitals in Metro Manila, including government-owned or controlled corporations (GOCCs), are prepared to accept patients that other hospitals can no longer accommodate due to the overwhelming number of individuals seeking care.
