Shear line, northeast monsoon to bring rains nationwide

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Saturday that the shear line and the northeast monsoon will continue to affect various parts of the country, bringing cloudy skies and scattered rains.

According to PAGASA’s 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the following areas can expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms:

  • Visayas
  • Bicol Region
  • Calabarzon
  • Mimaropa
  • Aurora

Due to moderate to heavy rainfall, flash floods and landslides may occur in these regions.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and the rest of Central Luzon will experience cloudy skies with rain showers due to the northeast monsoon.

For the rest of Luzon, the northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

In Mindanao, weather conditions will vary:

  • Caraga and Davao Region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
  • The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Wind and sea conditions

  • Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central Luzon will experience strong to gale-force winds, resulting in rough coastal waters.
  • The Visayas, the eastern section of Southern Luzon, and the western section of Central Luzon will have moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough seas.
  • The rest of the country will see light to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea conditions.

PAGASA advises residents in affected areas to stay updated on weather advisories and take necessary precautions against possible flooding and landslides.
