The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Monday that the shear line and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring moderate to heavy rainfall in various regions across the country.
In its latest advisory, the state weather bureau warned that the provinces of Cagayan, Apayao, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Palawan, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Zamboanga del Norte, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, and Dinagat Islands would experience significant rainfall on Monday, increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides, especially in elevated or mountainous regions.
It said the shear line was particularly impacting the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, while the ITCZ is causing widespread rain over Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or “amihan” is affecting Northern and Central Luzon, bringing cloudy skies and light to moderate rains.
PAGASA noted that the impacts of the heavy rainfall may be worsened by prior rain in some regions.
The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned were advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property.
As of 2:00 a.m., PAGASA monitored no low-pressure areas for tropical cyclone formation. (PNA)
