The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Monday reported that a shear line continues to affect Southern Luzon, while the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” dominates the rest of the region.
According to the 4 a.m. advisory, areas in Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and parts of Bicol—including Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate—experienced cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.
The northeast monsoon brought cloudy conditions with moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Cagayan Valley, the rest of the Bicol Region, and provinces including Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Aurora, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon. Some areas faced risks of flash floods and landslides.
In the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), light rains accompanied cloudy skies as amihan persisted across the highlands.
Metro Manila and much of Luzon recorded partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated light showers, while other parts of the country experienced localized thunderstorms that briefly brought rain or heavy showers.
Pagasa warned that intense rainfall in some areas could still trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in vulnerable communities.
Authorities and residents were advised to monitor weather updates, remain alert, and take precautions in flood- and landslide-prone areas.
