Senate prepares turnover of Curlee Discaya to PNP custody, transfer targeted on Monday

The Senate is now preparing the necessary documents for the transfer of detained contractor Curlee Discaya to the custody of the Philippine National Police (PNP), with the turnover expected to take place on Monday.

Acting Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian confirmed that the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has already coordinated with Senate officials regarding the transfer process.

According to Gatchalian, both institutions are currently working on the required paperwork to facilitate Discaya’s handover from Senate detention facilities to PNP custody.

“DILG has already coordinated with us, and we are now processing the necessary documents for his transfer to the PNP. The target date is Monday,” Gatchalian said in a Viber message to reporters on Friday.

The move signals the Senate’s readiness to comply with the transfer request as authorities finalize the legal and administrative requirements needed to complete the turnover.

Further details regarding the transfer and the circumstances surrounding Discaya’s detention are expected to be released once the process is finalized.
