Science sets sail: 2GO and The Mind Museum bring hands-on learning to Palawan

2GO has once again teamed up with The Mind Museum to make science more accessible—and this time, they’re taking it to the shores of Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

In an imaginative fusion of travel and education, the partnership brings the Mind Rover—a 12-meter, museum-on-wheels filled with interactive exhibits and live science demos—to island communities that rarely get to experience hands-on science learning. But before the Mind Rover even hit land, passengers aboard the MV 2GO St. Francis Xavier got a sneak peek. Over the weekend voyage from Manila to Puerto Princesa and Coron, travelers of all ages took part in science-themed activities curated by The Mind Museum, turning their journey into a floating classroom.

Through engaging STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) sessions, the initiative transforms the sea voyage into a fun and enriching experience—proving that learning doesn’t have to stop just because you’re on the move.

“We’re excited to continue our journey with 2GO,” said Maria Isabel Garcia, Managing Director and Curator of The Mind Museum. “Without 2GO’s ships, reaching island provinces like Palawan would take weeks or be nearly impossible. Thanks to this collaboration, we can bring science to life for more children and spark curiosity that could lead to future careers in STEM. And with onboard science shows, we’re engaging even more people along the way.”

This marks the third leg of the Mind Rover’s sea-faring tour, which already made waves in Bacolod and General Santos. The mission remains the same: ignite imagination, make science more fun, and encourage Filipino kids to see themselves as tomorrow’s scientists, engineers, and innovators.

Francis Chua, Business Unit Head of 2GO Travel, emphasized the importance of the partnership. “It’s a joy to help bring this experience to life,” he shared. “By creating a space aboard our ships where families can explore science, sea travel, and sustainability, we’re showing how learning can happen anywhere—even in the middle of the ocean.”

The Mind Rover’s visit to Puerto Princesa is part of a growing series of island activations—proof of what’s possible when purpose and logistics come together. With 2GO operating across 19 ports nationwide, the company is going beyond its core mission of moving people and goods. It’s moving ideas, creativity, and opportunity.

This collaboration is more than just a journey—it’s a reminder that with the right partners, learning can travel far and wide.
