Sarah Discaya, a former government contractor facing graft and malversation charges, was visited by her family at Lapu-Lapu City Jail after completing her mandatory quarantine, her lawyer said.

During the quarantine, which ended on December 26, only her legal representatives were permitted to meet her, according to Atty. Cornelio Samaniego, her spokesperson.

Samaniego said that Discaya received an e-call visit from her family on December 25, and the next day they were allowed to visit her in person.

The BJMP also permitted her to receive essential items, including food and personal belongings, while under quarantine.

Before these visits, only her lawyers were allowed access to her, BJMP spokesperson Jail Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera noted.

Discaya is detained along with nine others, including eight Department of Public Works and Highways officials and the president of her construction company, St. Timothy Corp., Roma Angeline Rimando.

Authorities are reviewing the possibility of integrating Discaya into the general population in the jail once the necessary clearance is given.

Meanwhile, her husband, Curlee Discaya, remains in detention at the Senate after being cited for contempt in a separate investigation linked to flood control projects.
