Actress and comedian Rufa Mae Quinto has revealed that her marriage to Trevor Magallanes faces challenges. However, she clarified that neither she nor her husband has filed for divorce, and she remains hopeful about working things out.
During an appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Friday, Rufa candidly addressed rumors surrounding her relationship. She shared her intention to have an open conversation with Trevor to resolve their issues.
“I’m always away, so maybe we just need to talk first, fix things, and apologize. I want to assure him that I’m here and that I’ll always be here,” Rufa said in Filipino.
Respecting Trevor’s perspective
The actress acknowledged that every story has two sides, and she admitted that her husband may also have his own reasons for their marital difficulties.
“We’re going through something, I admit that. I would respect that decision if he no longer wants to be married. But as of now, no one has filed for divorce,” Rufa explained.
She emphasized that she has no plans to initiate legal separation, joking, “I already have enough files in other cases.” She added, “We got married here in the Philippines, so I don’t even know the process. It’s still painful, and we have a child to think about.”
Rufa described Trevor, who is not from the entertainment industry, as a good husband and father. However, she noted that his private nature makes him more sensitive to public scrutiny.
“He’s not an actor, so he doesn’t like being talked about or involved in rumors. Of course, he gets hurt when people assume it’s all about money. That’s not true,” Rufa clarified.
Despite their current struggles, Rufa expressed her desire to mend their relationship. “I love him, of course. I want our family to be complete,” she said.
Looking ahead
Rufa and Trevor married in 2016 and welcomed their daughter Athena a year later. The couple lives in the United States and balances family life and Rufa’s career.
While Rufa remains optimistic about their future, she admitted the following steps are uncertain. “I want to wait and see what happens next. I still hope we can fix things,” she concluded.
The candid interview showed Rufa Mae Quinto’s personal life, highlighting her resilience and dedication to keeping her family intact despite the challenges.
