The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has imposed a temporary ban on the movement of small sea vessels in parts of northern Quezon province due to dangerous marine conditions.

The order took effect Sunday afternoon after state weather forecasters warned of intensifying winds over coastal waters.

Coast Guard officials in Real said the advisory was issued in response to forecasts from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration citing the northeast monsoon.

Areas affected include the coastline of General Nakar and sea routes along the Pacific-facing sides of Polillo Island.

Municipal waters covering Polillo, Panukulan, Burdeos, and Patnanungan were included in the suspension, authorities said.

Vessels and watercraft with a gross tonnage of 250 or below have been barred from sailing as waves are expected to reach hazardous levels.

The Coast Guard said the restriction will remain in place until sea conditions improve based on updated weather bulletins.
