MANILA – Police arrested a suspect in a recent robbery-holdup case at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City before he could board a domestic flight, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

The suspect was intercepted on October 2 after authorities received information linking him to a robbery-holdup incident in Malolos City, Bulacan, a day earlier.

According to the PNP, subsequent verification showed that the suspect had traveled to NAIA Terminal 3 and checked in for a flight bound for Cagayan de Oro.

Personnel from the PNP Aviation Security Group and Police Regional Office 3 coordinated with airport security personnel, the airline and other concerned units after confirming the information.

The coordinated operation resulted in the suspect being intercepted at the Domestic Departure Area before the scheduled flight.

The suspect was taken into police custody and later turned over to the concerned police units for documentation and appropriate legal proceedings.

PNP chief PGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. credited the arrest to the timely sharing and verification of information among police units operating across different jurisdictions.

“Hindi natatapos sa isang lugar ang trabaho ng pulis kapag may kailangang maaksiyunan. We have to connect the information, verify it, and act on it at the right time,” Nartatez said.

The PNP said it would continue strengthening coordination among police units, airport authorities and partner agencies to improve responses to criminal incidents and help maintain security in transportation facilities.
