Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla said he was pushed during a confrontation inside the Senate involving him and Sen. Robin Padilla.
Remulla said he was already walking out when he was allegedly shoved aside.
He said he was at the Senate on the request of Senate President Pro Tempore Sherwin Gatchalian to help ensure order and security in the premises.
The incident happened as Padilla and the group identified as the “18 alleged ex-Marines” were entering the chamber.
Remulla denied blocking their entry, saying he was alone during the encounter.
The group was at the Senate to attend a Blue Ribbon Committee hearing linked to the bloc aligned with former Senate president Alan Peter Cayetano on the flood control issue.
The brief encounter escalated into a tense exchange inside the Senate premises.
No injuries were reported, and both sides have yet to issue further statements on the incident.
