On Saturday, November 30, the commemoration of Bonifacio Day in Mendiola was overshadowed by a disturbing display of aggression from some left-wing protesters. My heart bleeds witnessing the brazen disrespect shown towards our men in uniform, particularly the young policemen tasked with maintaining order during the event.
The scenes that unfolded were not only disheartening but also a stark reminder of the growing divide between certain groups in our society. The police, many of whom are just beginning their careers, executed maximum tolerance in the face of hostility. It was appalling to see them attacked, with one officer suffering serious injuries to both eyes. I fervently pray for his recovery and hope he does not lose his eyesight. Such violence is unacceptable, and it raises important questions about the treatment of those who serve our communities.
Our government must prioritize the dignity of our law enforcement personnel. While it is true that some individuals may have acted inappropriately, the majority entered this field out of a genuine desire to serve and protect. Many police officers pursue this career to fulfill childhood dreams or to provide a better future for their families. They deserve our respect and support, not hostility.
In light of these events, we must ask ourselves: why are we allowing these confrontations to escalate? The government has been remarkably tolerant of left-leaning groups, but when those enforcing the law are put at risk, it is crucial to draw a line. We must foster a culture that values dialogue and mutual respect, rather than one that promotes violence and division.
As we reflect on the significance of Bonifacio Day—a day meant to honor our national heroes and their sacrifices—we should also consider the sacrifices made by our law enforcement officers. They, too, are part of the fabric of our nation and deserve our recognition and protection. It is time for us to stand together, promoting empathy and understanding, rather than allowing discord to dictate our actions.

A shift in tone: PBBM’s response to VP Sara’s controversy
A week ago, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (PBBM) exhibited a rare display of displeasure during a public address, a notable departure from his usual composed demeanor. Typically unfazed by personal attacks, even those aimed at his family, PBBM’s reaction was particularly striking in light of recent controversies surrounding Vice President Sara Duterte.
VP Sara has faced intense scrutiny following a series of investigations, culminating in a dramatic moment where her Chief of Staff, Atty. Zuleika Lopez, was detained for contempt. This incident not only revealed the tensions within the administration but also sparked concerns for the safety of our President BBM, the First Lady, Liza Araneta-Marcos, and Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Despite his evident frustration, PBBM maintained control, signaling an understanding of the delicate political landscape. He took a firm stance against the push for VP Sara’s impeachment, arguing that such actions would not improve the lives of Filipinos. His message to the House of Representatives was clear: impeachment would not serve the nation’s interests.
During a media interaction, when asked about the possibility of unity amidst the turmoil, PBBM responded with an optimistic “Never say never.” This remark not only hinted at a potential for reconciliation but also reinforced his commitment to governance focused on the welfare of the Filipino people.
The President’s response has left a mixed impression—while some may question his steadfastness in the face of internal strife, others, like myself, feel reassured in our support for him since the campaign’s early days. PBBM’s remarkable blend of disappointment and resolve underscores the complexities of leadership in turbulent times, reminding us of the importance of unity in the pursuit of national progress.

PBBM’s unwavering commitment to economic prosperity
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. remains steadfast in his mission to steer the Philippines towards economic prosperity and progress. In a political landscape often marred by distractions and dissent, his determination to drive positive change for the nation is increasingly evident. The legacy of his administration will ultimately be shaped by the tangible improvements and advancements achieved under his leadership, as he strives to uplift the lives of Filipinos.
A recent visit to the fire victims in Isla Puting Bato, Manila, exemplifies this commitment. During his visit, President Marcos assured the affected individuals that he would do everything in his power to ensure they have a better home by Christmas. He even expressed willingness to return and celebrate the holiday with them if necessary. Such gestures resonate deeply, highlighting the human side of leadership.
In times of global unrest and uncertainty, the need for unity becomes paramount. The Philippines faces a myriad of challenges that require collaborative efforts across all sectors of society. It is essential to recognize that the success or failure of the President directly impacts the nation as a whole. Therefore, fostering a spirit of cooperation is crucial.
However, the political climate in the Philippines is fraught with divisiveness. Certain factions, often opposed to the President, appear intent on creating turmoil rather than contributing to constructive dialogue. It is vital for citizens to discern genuine support from mere rhetoric that seeks to undermine national progress.
As the President navigates these turbulent waters, it is essential to prioritize unity over discord. The country cannot afford to be bogged down by politics when there are pressing issues to address. The path forward lies in collective effort and a commitment to a shared vision for a better future. Only through unity can the nation rise above challenges and work towards a prosperous Philippines for all.
