Executive Secretary Ralph Recto convened the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council ad hoc team on Aug. 3 to finalize the administration’s priority measures for the 20th Congress.
The meeting, called upon the instruction of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., served as preparation for the next full Ledac session involving the executive branch, Senate and House of Representatives.
The Office of the Executive Secretary said the proposed bills support the administration’s push for a more responsive, transparent and inclusive government.
The emerging agenda includes measures to spur economic growth, provide tax relief to workers and businesses, lower electricity costs and strengthen food and energy security.
Other priorities seek to expand social protection, intensify anti-corruption efforts and improve public services through institutional and political reforms.
The proposed measures also reflect policy directions announced during Marcos’ fifth State of the Nation Address, including broader income tax exemptions, tax relief for small businesses, tax amnesty and the removal of system loss charges from electricity bills.
Department of Economy, Planning and Development Secretary Arsenio Balisacan and Presidential Legislative Liaison Office Secretary Joey Salceda joined Recto during the meeting.
Malacañang has yet to announce the date of the next full Ledac meeting, where the government’s common legislative agenda is expected to be discussed and adopted.
