The Quezon City government announced that health care workers (HCWs) who served during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic will soon receive their Health Emergency Allowance (HEA). The release follows the allocation of funds this September by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
“Maagap at mabilis na ipinasa ng Quezon City Health Department (QCHD) ang mga Covid-19 Risk Exposure Classification (CREC) Reports ng mga pasilidad sa DOH para agarang maibigay ang kanilang HEA,” the city government said, noting that the QCHD promptly forwarded the risk classification reports to the Department of Health (DOH).
The government is coordinating with the DOH to expedite the processing and release of the funds. Under Republic Act 11712, the HEA is granted based on risk exposure: high-risk HCWs receive PHP9,000 per month, medium-risk PHP6,000, and low-risk PHP3,000. The allowance is computed according to the number of hours HCWs physically reported to work, as certified by their facility heads, starting July 1, 2021.
The Quezon City government expressed gratitude for the sacrifices of healthcare workers, saying, “Kayo ang tunay na katuwang sa pagpapanatili ng kalusugan at kaligtasan ng ating mga mamamayan.”
