The Quezon City government announced that restaurants and fast-food chains operating at least five branches will soon be required to display calorie information on their menus and menu boards.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the city reminded the public that only ten days remain before the implementation of City Ordinance SP-3254, S-2024.
The measure mandates establishments to include calorie counts on all food and beverage items to help consumers make informed dietary decisions.
City officials said the ordinance aims to promote healthier eating habits among residents and families.
According to the local government, clearer nutritional information would allow diners to better understand the caloric content of their meals.
The requirement covers restaurants and fast-food chains with five or more outlets operating within Quezon City.
The city noted that visible calorie labels are expected to encourage more responsible menu planning among food businesses.
Officials said the initiative forms part of broader health and wellness programs being rolled out across the city.
