PSBank official confirms Duterte-Carpio account balances from 2022 to 2025
MANILA – A Philippine Savings Bank (PSBank) official on Wednesday presented the year-end balances of accounts linked to Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband, Atty. Mans Carpio, as the Senate impeachment court continued hearing financial evidence in the unexplained wealth charge against the Vice President.
Irene Joy Ishida, department head of branch operations at PSBank, confirmed the ending balances reflected in the couple’s accounts covering the years 2022 to 2025.
Her testimony formed part of the prosecution’s presentation of bank records from several financial institutions subpoenaed by the impeachment court.
The House prosecution earlier said records from eight banks would show at least 30 active accounts involving Duterte and Carpio from 2022 to 2025, with combined year-end balances of more than P59 million in 2022, P71 million in 2023, P22 million in 2024 and P35 million in 2025. These figures represent separate year-end snapshots and not money held at the same time.
Prosecutors are seeking to compare the bank records with Duterte’s Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALNs) as part of Article II of the impeachment complaint, which alleges unexplained wealth. The defense has disputed the prosecution’s interpretation of the financial records and maintained that the evidence must be properly authenticated and reconciled with the couple’s declared assets.
Ishida was among the bank representatives called to testify as the impeachment trial entered its 35th day on Wednesday.
