The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Negros Oriental has issued a warning to establishments, institutions, and government agencies against rejecting the digital version of the national ID, citing possible sanctions for non-compliance.
Ariel Fortuito, PSA-Negros Oriental’s chief statistical specialist, told the Philippine News Agency that letters have been sent to several organizations, both private and public, that failed to honor the digital national ID.
“So far, no one has been penalized or sanctioned yet as they complied with law after they were called out,” Fortuito said.
He clarified that three versions of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) are valid and acceptable for transactions: the physical ID card delivered via the Philippine Postal Corporation, the e-Phil ID issued by PSA, and the digital national ID downloadable from the PSA website.
Fortuito advised the public to laminate their e-Phil ID to preserve it from damage.
He also announced that PSA will soon distribute machines to provincial offices for on-site printing of physical national ID cards.
