LAOAG, ILOCOS NORTE — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation of Filipino athletes as he led the opening ceremony of the 2025 Palarong Pambansa on May 25 at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Stadium.
Speaking before a roaring crowd of young athletes, coaches, and supporters, the President promised continued support through better training facilities, scholarships, health and wellness programs, and access to modern sports science. These efforts aim to prepare homegrown talents for the world’s grandest stages — from the Asian Games to the Olympic Games.
“We will walk alongside every young Filipino athlete on their journey,” Marcos declared, emphasizing that the government is not just a spectator but a dedicated partner in their athletic dreams.
He also paid tribute to the unsung heroes behind every athlete’s success: the parents, teachers, and coaches who serve as mentors and motivators through every win, loss, and grueling training session.

“Together, we will build champions — not only of medals, but of discipline, dedication, and national pride,” the President added.
With thousands of student-athletes gathered to compete in the country’s biggest grassroots sporting event, the 2025 Palarong Pambansa isn’t just about medals — it’s about igniting passion, building character, and shaping future legends of Philippine sports.
