With barely weeks before millions of devotees flood the streets of Manila for the 2026 Traslacion, organizers on Tuesday conducted an extensive walk-through of the entire procession route, marking the start of full-scale preparations for one of the country’s largest religious events.
In a Facebook update, the Quiapo Church announced that key representatives from national and local government agencies, church officials, private sector partners, the Fiesta Council, the Procession Committee, Hijos del Nazareno, and medical volunteer groups joined the on-ground inspection. The coordinated sweep aimed to pinpoint choke points, safety hazards, and logistical requirements ahead of the January 9 procession.
According to organizers, the joint walkthrough serves as an early safety measure to ensure smooth movement along the procession path and guarantee the security of the millions expected to attend the 2026 celebration.
The church emphasized that protecting devotees remains their top priority throughout the festivities, which will run from December 31, 2025 to January 9, 2026. The Traslacion will once again bring the revered image of the Black Nazarene from Quirino Grandstand back to Quiapo Church—an annual tradition that traces its roots to the 1600s, when the image arrived from Acapulco, Mexico, and later found its permanent home in Quiapo in 1767.
For devotees and first-time participants, the 2026 Traslacion is expected to mirror the massive turnout of previous years, with authorities urging the public to remain vigilant and cooperative as preparations continue.
