Shell Energy Philippines, Inc. (SEPH) and Greenlight Renewables Holdings, Inc. have formalized a long-term Power Supply Agreement for a 120MWp ground-mounted solar farm in Leyte—an initiative poised to bring cleaner, more reliable, and more affordable electricity to Filipino consumers.
Through Greenlight’s subsidiary, San Isidro Solar Power Corp., SEPH will purchase power from Phase 1 of the San Isidro Solar Power Project under a 15-year agreement. Set to begin commercial operations by the second quarter of 2026, the project will help strengthen energy security in the Visayas, cut carbon emissions, and reduce the country’s dependence on imported fuel. By supplying solar-generated electricity directly to commercial and industrial customers, SEPH expects to help drive down operational costs that could translate into more competitively priced goods and services for the public.
The project represents the first PSA signed by the joint venture between Emerging Power Inc. (EPI) and Shell Overseas Investments B.V., and comes as Shell companies in the Philippines mark 111 years in the country and SEPH celebrates its fifth anniversary—underscoring a renewed push toward sustainable power solutions.
SEPH President Bernd Krukenberg said the decision to fully offtake power from the Leyte solar facility demonstrates Shell’s commitment to expanding access to cleaner and more cost-efficient energy. “Our strong partnership with Greenlight reflects Shell’s vision of supporting the nation’s shift to renewable power and ensuring that more Filipinos benefit from a stable and sustainable energy supply,” he said.
Greenlight President and CEO Jasmin Agbon highlighted the public impact of the project, saying the San Isidro Solar Power Project will help reinforce grid stability and accelerate the Philippines’ clean energy transition. “Our teams are working tirelessly to deliver a project that directly supports energy security and the country’s sustainability goals,” she said.
Greenlight, a joint venture of EPI and Shell Overseas Investments B.V., focuses on large-scale renewable energy development. Phase 1 of the San Isidro project—now undergoing testing and commissioning—is already supplying solar energy to the grid.
With this deal, SEPH continues to expand its clean energy portfolio as a registered retail electricity supplier, aiming to grow its market presence over the next five years while helping power Filipino businesses with sustainable, future-ready solutions.
