The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said on Monday that it deployed additional police personnel to secure churches and other places of worship across the city earlier this month.

The police district reported that the security coverage was carried out from February 1 to 4 under Oplan Bathala, targeting religious gatherings in different areas of Quezon City.

According to QCPD, a total of 185 police officers were assigned to 77 places of worship to ensure safety during scheduled services.

Police said the deployment covered an estimated 6,900 worshippers who attended various religious activities during the four-day period.

Aside from providing security, officers also conducted public safety activities, including the distribution of informational materials and engagement with churchgoers.

The QCPD said the operation was conducted in line with directives from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on securing major public events.

Police officials said similar measures remain part of their continuing efforts to maintain peace and order during large gatherings in the city.
