Police arrested a regional and provincial most wanted person in Jordan, Guimaras, on Thursday, July 9, the Philippine National Police reported.
The suspect, identified only by the alias Renan, was arrested in Barangay Alaguisoc during a manhunt operation.
The PNP said the 39-year-old fish vendor, a resident of Iloilo, was listed as the No. 8 regional most wanted person of Police Regional Office 6.
He was also identified as the No. 6 provincial most wanted person of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office.
The operation was led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Guimaras Provincial Field Unit, with support from the Jordan Municipal Police Station.
Police said the arrest was based on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 68 in Dumangas, Iloilo, for two counts of rape by sexual assault.
The cases involved alleged violations of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 8353, in relation to Republic Act No. 7610. Bail was set at Php 200,000 for the two counts.
The suspect was brought to the CIDG Guimaras Provincial Field Unit for documentation and further legal proceedings, while PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the arrest showed continuing efforts to pursue wanted persons through coordinated and lawful police operations.
