The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) received official recognition from the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), clearing the way for its new leadership to focus on developing the national team program.
PNVF President Tonyboy Liao said the confirmation marked a milestone for Philippine volleyball. “Our focus is always Philippine volleyball gaining progress,” he said, noting the importance of international approval for the federation’s governance.
FIVB’s head of legal and general counsel, Stephen Bock, sent a letter from Lausanne, Switzerland, confirming that the PNVF’s recent elections met all legal and administrative requirements under FIVB rules.
“The FIVB hereby informs you that the election process at the Philippine National Volleyball Federation satisfies the legal and administrative requirements in compliance with the FIVB regulations,” Bock wrote.
The letter further stated that the elections are recognized by FIVB and that the federation’s records, including the FIVB website directory, would be updated to reflect the new leadership.
Liao also addressed questions about the coaching of the Alas Pilipinas women’s team. He said the decision on Tai Bundit’s role would be finalized by the PNVF board in consultation with Jonathan Ng, Bundit’s current mentor at Criss Cross and Spikers Turf.
“The Executive Board will review and approve this after my meeting with Jojo Ng by the end of the month,” Liao added, signaling that national team appointments would follow proper board procedures.
