The Philippine National Police (PNP) has officially welcomed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to implement a significant increase in the base pay and subsistence allowance for all military and uniformed personnel (MUPs) over the next three years.
The administration’s decision, announced recently by the President, is seen as a recognition of the security sector’s efforts, particularly their crucial roles during consecutive national calamities.
In a statement released shortly after the announcement, the PNP expressed its gratitude for the forthcoming enhancements. “We acknowledge the administration’s decision to enhance the support provided to military and uniformed personnel, including the adjustments in base pay and the improvement of subsistence allowance in the coming years,” the statement read.
The PNP, through Acting Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., noted that the gesture was “deeply appreciated across the organization, as it reflects the government’s recognition of the daily risks and responsibilities carried by our personnel.”
The presidential order mandates two key financial improvements for the MUP sector: a total increase of 15 percent in the base pay for all military and uniformed personnel, and an increase in the daily subsistence allowance to P350 per day, effective starting January 1, 2026.
This combined increase in base salary and daily allowance is expected to provide substantial financial relief and boost morale among the thousands of uniformed personnel who frequently face high-risk operational environments and are first responders in times of disaster.
