The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) conducted an orientation on cybersafety and active threat preparedness for school personnel and parents in Currimao, Ilocos Norte, on October 13, 2026.
Personnel from the Ilocos Norte Provincial Cyber Response Team, led by PCPT Mark Jhosen Macaspac, served as resource speakers during the activity held at Wilbur C. Go National High School in Barangay Poblacion 2.
The orientation, conducted under the supervision of PCOL Greg Guerrero, chief of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 1, was attended by teaching and non-teaching personnel and members of the Parent-Teacher Association.
Discussions focused on cybercrime awareness, nihilistic violent extremism, online bomb threats, and other potential security risks affecting schools.
Participants were also briefed on identifying warning signs, strengthening emergency preparedness, implementing appropriate response measures, and coordinating with law enforcement authorities when suspicious activities arise.
PNP-ACG Acting Director PMGEN Andre Dizon emphasized the importance of cooperation among school personnel, parents, students, and police in preventing cyber-related threats.
“Awareness and preparedness are essential in protecting our schools and communities from cyber-related threats,” Dizon said.
He also encouraged school communities to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to help maintain a safe learning environment.
The initiative forms part of the PNP-ACG’s efforts to strengthen public awareness and promote proactive security measures against emerging cyber threats.
