The Philippine National Police (PNP) served a warrant of arrest against a Chinese suspect facing a kidnapping for ransom case while in custody at a facility in Bacoor, Cavite.

Police said the warrant was implemented late on March 10 at the Bacoor Custodial Facility where the accused is currently detained.

Authorities said the court ordered the arrest in connection with a kidnapping for ransom case and indicated that no bail was recommended for the charge.

Personnel from the Parañaque City Police Station under the Special Police District carried out the service of the warrant.

Police said the action formed part of procedures to ensure that pending cases against detainees are properly enforced in accordance with court orders.

PNP Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez said implementing warrants of arrest is a key step in ensuring accountability under the justice system.

He said the police force continues to ensure that law enforcement actions follow proper legal procedures and due process.
