The Philippine National Police (PNP) foiled a major insurgent threat in Barangay Nipa, Palapag, Northern Samar, during a counterinsurgency operation from March 15 to March 16, 2026.

The operation involved a combined team of Special Action Force personnel, regional intelligence units, and the Philippine Army.

Authorities recovered an M16 rifle, a 9mm KG9 pistol, four anti-personnel mines, and several magazines and rounds of ammunition. All items are now under police custody for documentation and proper disposition.

Officials said actionable intelligence from a PSR-listed CTG member enabled the successful seizure.

The operation highlights the PNP’s focus on Enhanced Managing Police Operations, a key part of its PNP Focused Agenda, which aims to make policing more proactive, vigilant, and community-centered.

“Our officers acted with precision and courage, showing that threats to our communities will meet decisive action,” PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.

“Kapayapaan at seguridad ng bawat barangay ang aming pangunahing layunin, kaya’t walang puwang para sa banta ng terorismo sa mamamayan,” he added.
