The Philippine National Police is exploring closer cooperation with Slovak law enforcement agencies to strengthen training, knowledge exchange and public safety initiatives amid evolving security challenges.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. discussed possible areas of collaboration with Slovak Ambassador to the Philippines Miloš Koterec during a courtesy visit at Camp Crame in Quezon City on Tuesday.
Nartatez said the engagement provided an opportunity to expand international partnerships, particularly in police development, training, public safety and responses to emerging security threats.
The two sides discussed possible cooperation on training frameworks, operational best practices, knowledge sharing and other initiatives aimed at improving police capabilities.
The talks followed the recent opening of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Manila, which the PNP said could support closer government-to-government engagement, including cooperation between law enforcement institutions.
Nartatez said international partnerships should help improve police services by allowing agencies to exchange expertise and strengthen personnel development.
The PNP said the initiative forms part of its continuing effort to build international law enforcement ties and improve its capacity to address security concerns that increasingly cross national borders.
