The Philippine National Police (PNP) called for a broader review of government cybersecurity systems after the websites of the Senate and the House of Representatives were hit by separate hacking incidents.
The House website was reportedly defaced on Saturday, days after the Senate confirmed that its own official site had been subjected to unauthorized modification.
A hacker group claimed responsibility for the attacks and described them as a protest against alleged corruption in government.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez said the incidents showed the need for all government agencies to keep cybersecurity as a priority.
He urged state institutions to review their security protocols, update their systems, and strengthen monitoring against emerging cyber threats.
Nartatez said the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group had been directed to coordinate with the House information technology and cybersecurity teams to assist in the investigation.
He said authorities would work with concerned agencies to determine the source, method, and scope of the website defacement and pursue charges under cybercrime laws once those responsible are identified.
The Senate earlier said its technical team was investigating the unauthorized modification of its website, while initial findings showed no indication that confidential or sensitive data had been compromised.
