The Philippine National Police (PNP) said no major incidents were recorded during the first day of the transport strike on Thursday, March 26.
In a statement released Friday, PNP chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the situation remained generally peaceful, with only minor disruptions reported.
He said these were promptly addressed through coordination and communication by personnel deployed on the ground.
Nartatez added that police units across the country were directed to maintain visibility in key areas to prevent potential disturbances.
Transport and sectoral groups launched the two-day protest to call for government action on rising fuel prices linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict.
In Metro Manila, the National Capital Region Police Office said it deployed more than 8,900 police officers and 190 vehicles.
Authorities said the deployment aimed to secure protest sites and assist commuters affected by the strike.
Police officials said monitoring continues as the protest enters its second day, with measures in place to ensure public order and safety.
