The Philippine National Police (PNP) has announced a notable decrease in election-related incidents during the 2025 Midterm Elections, reporting a total of 74 cases — down from 105 during the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in 2023.
In a press briefing held at Camp Crame, PNP Public Information Office Chief Col. Randulf Tuaño expressed cautious optimism over the decline, calling it a hopeful sign of improving election security and peace across the country.
Among the 74 incidents, shootings remain a major concern, comprising a significant number of the 27 violent cases reported. Other incidents included assault, intimidation, harassment, and various forms of election-related violence.
Breaking down the figures regionally reveals the hotspots and areas of calm during the elections:
- Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao led with 23 incidents, highlighting ongoing security challenges.
- Cordillera Administrative Region followed with 17 incidents.
- Other regions like CALABARZON (9), Zamboanga Peninsula (5), and Davao Region (4) also recorded multiple incidents.
- Meanwhile, peaceful election zones with zero incidents included key areas such as the National Capital Region, Mimaropa, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga — showcasing pockets of calm and order amid the national vote.
The PNP remains vigilant, aiming to continue this positive trend and ensure safer, more secure elections in the future.
