The Philippine National Police recorded a 36.12 percent decline in focus crimes nationwide in July compared with the same period last year, citing sustained law enforcement efforts and stronger community partnerships.
PNP data showed 2,209 focus crimes from July 1 to 31, down from 3,458 incidents recorded in July 2025, or 1,249 fewer cases.
Among the eight focus crimes, rape posted the biggest decrease at 56.93 percent, followed by carnapping of motor vehicles at 46.15 percent, carnapping of motorcycles at 42.59 percent and physical injuries at 40.40 percent.
Robbery cases fell by 34.34 percent, while theft declined by 31.28 percent. Homicide dropped by 5.26 percent and murder by 4.61 percent.
The PNP attributed the decline to intensified police operations, increased visibility and closer coordination with communities and partner agencies.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez said the lower crime figures reflected the dedication of police personnel but stressed that reducing crime statistics was only one measure of effective policing.
He said the police force remained focused on preventing crimes before they occur and delivering responsive, professional service to the public.
The PNP said it would continue strengthening crime prevention, law enforcement and community engagement programs to further reduce criminality and build public trust.
