The Philippine National Police (PNP) said its order to remove politically branded materials applied only to PNP properties.

PNP chief PGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the directive covered police stations, camps, offices, and other PNP facilities nationwide.

He added the move was meant to maintain political neutrality and ensure public service remained free from partisan promotion.

The directive followed the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Memorandum Circular No. 2026-006 and a PNP memorandum dated February 2, 2026.

Both memorandums instructed PNP units to remove tarpaulins, posters, markers, and other materials featuring the names, images, slogans, or symbols of public officials.

They also cited Article XI, Section 1 of the 1987 Constitution, emphasizing that “public office is a public trust.”

Nartatez’s statement came after he had ordered the removal of materials showing officials’ names and images from government projects under PNP jurisdiction.
