PNP continues relief operations amid ongoing bad weather

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is actively conducting relief operations in response to the adverse weather conditions following the impact of Typhoon Crising.

Over 6,000 police personnel have been deployed for emergency management operations in areas severely affected by the recent typhoon. According to PNP Public Information Office Chief PBGen. Randulf Tuano, of the total 6,000 personnel, 1,606 have been assigned to Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Cordillera Region, Negros Island, and Metro Manila.

Additionally, 4,307 police officers from the PNP’s reactionary support are on standby, ready to provide augmentation if additional personnel are needed in these areas.

Based on data and reports from the PNP, there are currently over 13,715 evacuation centers open and accessible to affected residents in the impacted regions.

In related news, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Disaster Response Operations Management reported that 5,022 families, equivalent to 17,694 individuals, have been affected by the heavy rainfall in various barangays across MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula.

The DSWD has already provided initial assistance, distributing PHP 744,539 worth of family food packs (FFPs) and non-food items.

Currently, more than three million boxes of FFPs are prepared and on standby at the National Resource Operations Center, while repacking and replenishment of relief items continue.
